“Specifically engineered to break your heart”
Well, it’s suddenly winter in Texas and we’re not sure what to do with ourselves. (So, clearly: drinking a lot of hot toddies, finally devouring A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing, listening to the comet song.)
Our Secret Life in the Movies has only been out for two weeks and already it’s taking the world by storm. We were overjoyed when we saw this rave in the Washington Post; reviewer Michael Lindgren calls the book “beautiful” and “devastating.”
Kirkus Reviews published an in-depth feature on the project behind OSLITM and said, “Reading the book feels much like recalling mostly lost memories, or, perhaps, remembering something that never happened at all.” Excerpts went up at some of our favorite online venues: Flavorwire and Midnight Breakfast. We had a super great time with Brazos Bookstore celebrating the book’s release with drinks and clips from Donnie Darko in Houston.
Get your hands on a copy if you haven’t yet.
Oh, and darling Mississippians! Don’t miss Kelly Luce reading from Hana Sasaki this afternoon at Square Books in Oxford, MS.
Until very soon…
